Personal Security Jobs
The world truly is getting smaller. People are able to travel great distances in a short amount of time. Communication between people is extremely easy and convenient, no matter how far apart. Technology has advanced greatly. This is all wonderful, but it also has made it easier for criminals to get their hands on other people's money or possessions.
With so much information about individuals floating around, and so many people traveling for pleasure, there really are many opportunities for thieves to take advantage of them. One way to avoid problems and feel safer is to have a personal security guard.
There are a few different kinds of security jobs, from mall or store security guards to personal bodyguards. Personal security jobs are not only to watch over the rich and famous. As a matter of fact, many “regular” people hire personal security officers for themselves.
This type of personal security job is not usually a long term job. Normally a person will hire a personal security guard just for specific occasions. Maybe just while going out to a public event. Maybe while going to a dangerous destination. Often people hire a personal security guard for when they are on vacation. That way they don't have to worry so much about being taken advantage of in an unknown place.
What is required to get a personal security job? Well, as with some other security jobs, you often don't need any special training. Most people would prefer to see that you are trained in self defense and gun handling/shooting. This doesn't have to be any very formal training, but having some background in the area is definitely desirable (and often required).
Beyond that training, a high school diploma is generally all that's required. The most important thing is that the person feels safe with you. After all, they will be entrusting their safety to you! Hopefully they won't actually need any defending, but you certainly want them to feel that you are prepared, should the occasion arise.
In the best case scenario, a personal security job is a simple one. Most of the time you will spend watching out for trouble, but there are also long periods of doing nothing. And, as mentioned, it is usually only a short stint job anyway. However, it is one that can be very exciting and rewarding, too.
If you like protecting others and are qualified, looking into a personal security job is a good idea. If you are looking for something more steady, try to find a more permanent position. Or you might look into becoming a public security guard, as those are very regular jobs, either day or night. You can also do each part time so you get a little of each time of work on your resume.
