Any information that you give out has the potential to be found by someone interested in getting to know you more than you want them to. It can be used against you in a number of ways that can be very hard for you to undo.

In reality, the chances of you being robbed or having other problems on the Internet are no bigger than in your everyday life, but those things are a possibility none the less and something you should think about and try to prevent whenever possible. Especially with easy steps like those mentioned above.
